The story of jack-o-lanterns is that there was the belief that if you didn't harvest your crops in time the spirits would come and destroy your crops...
ReplyDeleteSo on Sahmain they would hollow out gourds and stuff and put fire inside them so that when the spirits came for them, they try to take the crops but instead would be surprised by fire chasing away the spirits and giving you more time to harvest your crops.
Carmel apple suckers loved them but they would adhere to my teeth and the wrestle mania would begin.lol Hugs Darcy
