So now, when I get home I can open what she sent me.
I told myself that I wasn't allowed to open the package--which has been sitting on my kitchen counter for the last 5 days. Just sitting there MOCKING me.
Sunday night
Chris: "Are you going to open this? It's for you."
Me: "Not yet."
Chris walks away, just thinking whatever crazy women!
Monday night
Chris: "This is still here. Do you want me to hand it to you so you can open it?"
Me: "Nope."
Again puzzled Chris but no questions.
Tuesday night
Chris: "Here, you should open this."
Me: "Not yet…I haven't finished my knitting project for Katie so I can't open it until it's complete!"
Chris: "I thought you showed it to me while we were in West Virginia."
Me: "I did, but really that went into the craft fail pile. It's hideous, I can't send it to her."
Chris: "OK, so what are you going to do."
Me-as I'm knitting: 'Send her this."

Not the colors I envisioned because I had to regroup and start over.
Sorry Katie.

It has been a weird couple days. We are cleaning out all three of our bedrooms for carpeting that will be installed on Wednesday so this has been a big task.

I did however, finish my SeaFoam pattern dishcloth. I really like it and I think that pattern would make a great scarf, you could even use this pattern and just keep repeating it until you get the size scarf you want!

Yesterday I signed up for another swap, this one is the oh, Hello Friends Lovely package swap. I did this questionnaire for sign-up but I found myself writing more then needed so I thought I'd post it here. I think this swap is closed now :(

I love:
journals/notebooks—I have about a hundred, but some are just too pretty to write in-so wasteful! I'm trying to get better about it.
knitting—I love to knit, I've even knitted at work during meetings...it really does help me just focus on what else is in front of me and I get better ideas. Any of my other knitting friends find this to be true?
photography—I'm not very good, but I do appreciate it and I do wish I was better at 'getting the shot' if you know what I mean.
food—Mmmm, this explains why I can't lose the baby weight completely, I think I kinda don't want to.
anything that just seems frivolous (this includes my electronics :))—Yeah, I just purchased a tablet computer thing yesterday (like an iPad, but not an iPad) simply because I REALLY wanted it, I certainly don't NEED it. Oh I am so bad sometimes.

5 words to describe you or your style: I gravitate towards vintage and clean lines, but I love shabby chic and just a hodgepodge as long as I can see the reasoning behind it. My best friend is a CrAZy awesome decorator and it's such a wonderful hodgepodge of color and pattern...oh I love it and so admire it, but do not feel comfortable in trying it. But I'm so jealous of those who can do it.

Anything else you'd like to mention: Yeah, I'm feeling kinda nutty and swirly today so I don't think I should share anything more. :)

Rainy days = Day dreaming

I was just writing/daydreaming in my new journal yesterday about starting a business. And then today, I came across this article...I hope I win.

So here's a little of my idea, that was inspired by my new journal.

This is by Conduit Press—I purchased it at a local store called Homespun. I love it!

Here's another random picture of my new journal...the inside-which by the way, also has some of the pages from this actual book mixed in!

So, I also think that I could make one for family if I had a punch/bind machine which is like $300. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a place that had something like that for occasional usage and not have it cost an arm and a leg (Kinko's). So what about a craft studio that had items like that along with long tables for cutting fabric, sewing machines, knitting crocheting stuff...all sorts of things that could be used, but you don't have to purchase because you'd only use it occasionally? That's what I'm talking about-charge by the hour for usage of all the items you want. Maybe there would also be a retail shop attached where crafters could sell their items on consignment (like Homespun)-on and maybe a room for classes.
Wouldn't that be cool?
Who wants to invest?

Oh, and I almost forgot, I wrote a pattern today. Nothing exciting, but I thought I'd do it, I'll test it in the next couple of days and then post.

My rambles

I'm very excited to have just been introduced to my Holiday Exchange partner...her name is Katie and she lives just a mere 3-4 hours from me in Chicago (a city I love and miss). Did I mention to all yeal that I lived in the southwest suburbs of Chitown for like 5 years in my 20's. Sadly I wish I had really done more with my time while I was there.

Anyway...Katie has Crafty Khandy-a fabulous blog—look at how great she is with paper.

This is something I aspire too...seriously, my yarn stash is rivaled by my scrap booking stash-of which I am embarrassed to say, I have never made anything more then some cards from. (and I guess my wedding invites.

I look at at Ali Edwards blog and it's completely inspiring and it makes me want to document O's life better.

But honestly, what is a girl to do when her heart longs to craft all day but is stuck in corporate America—well non-profit America (not that different, just less pay)?

Could I go back to school for crafting? Is that something I could take out student loans for?

I've started selling Thirty-One Gifts in hopes that that could be my 'gateway drug' out of a 9-5. It's not going as well as I'd hope, but I'll keep working at it. Honestly, if I could make 1/4 of my present income with Thirty-One and then 1/4 from crafting, and maybe just another 1/4 in freelance graphic design, I'd be happy! It'd be a 1/4 pay cut, but I'd deal.

OK, story this is a bit of a stream of conscientious writing day. I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.

I think I'll go start researching what I'm going to make Katie.

Starting again

I used to be ab AVID blogger.
I love to write and share what I was doing, even if only two people were reading...
Then, life happened.
I got serious about a boy.
I got even more serious and got engaged, got married, sold my house, moved to a completely different side of town, a year later had a baby and I'm STILL reeling.
But I miss this, I miss the creative process.
I miss writing and thinking about it.
I know I've said it before and I guess I'll say it again…I want to be here again. I want to be involved in a creative community (cause I'm not even in it at work anymore).
Last night I spent the evening knitting and sipping wine with a group I sporadically have the time to be involved with. But I realize (after taking two mental health days from work) that I need that creative time. I think it's what's missing in my life and what's—frankly—making me VERY bitchy!
So this is a promise I'm making to myself, anyone who happens to be reading (pretty much NO ONE) and God:
• I will spend (at least) 30 minutes a day reading my RSS feeds (all creative and seemingly getting fewer and fewer as I get into them and realize that no one else is blogging anymore)
• share at least 3 of those items, via either this blog or by emailing to friends I think might find it interesting
• (at least) 30 minutes doing something creative of my own: knitting, writing, designing or crafting of some sort

And I think I can do all of this at work…cause I really only have about 10 minutes of actual work to do! hehehe ;)

So we begin again.
I do semi have a plan and I will reveal it as I flush it out.

So, I have tried to get this right 3 times now and it's really not working. Yesterday was my first knitting lunch and I was very excited to get a patch done and learn a new knitting technique-the Vogue Calendar pattern of the day.

However, Anemone...should be called Annoying or Askew or something equally frustrating and wrong.

Here was my second attempt...
Here is my third, which looks relatively close, I just have 22 stitches at the end instead of the original 14 I started with.

But all I can figure out is pattern has to be wrong.
Or maybe it's the knitter, but I have been knitting long enough to honestly be able to figure this out.

Has anyone tried this pattern?

Maybe I'll do a little poking around on the internet and see.

But 3 attempts! That's a couple hours of knitting time I could have spent working on something useful...like the Double Pom-Pom hat! Which I finished tonight.

Unfortunately O was already asleep so I couldn't try it on her. I will in the morning and take a picture, however I am pretty sure it's too big for her little head. But she'll grow into it.

A new year 2011

As a start to the new year, I plan to do some additional blogging and knitting.
Here's my plan.
I am going to knit everyday-mostly from this:

So What I did with this today, is write a dishcloth pattern with it. I will test tomorrow and post it. Wish me luck!
I an also going to work on Day one of the monthly dishcloth kal.
I think I will also work on the Double Pom Pom Baby hat (found it on Ravelry the other day), Which I started the other day and had to frog yesterday due to the fact that it was too big. I'm back to only having the first 10 rows done.
Back to the knitting and taking care of little Miss O!

Oh my, how I hate the scale!

I'm not even sure hate is a strong enough work.

Loathe!

And it's not the scales fault. It's not like it did something to me other then tell me the truth. I suppose like all people in life, I kind of don't like the truth.

I mean, can you blame me?

And I have most certainly done my fair share of telling people the truth, when no one else would and even when they don't want to hear it.

Yes, I am that person.

Always have been and always will be.

But I digress, I mean we're talking about how unhappy I am with my weight.

I worked very hard to drop 120lbs years ago-it seems like just last year, but honestly it was like 5 years ago.

So, I am on that mission again. No, I don't have that much 'baby weight' to lose, but definately more then I'd like.

It doesn't matter that before I got preggers I had put on some weight-newly married weight. So not between newly married and baby weight I have 30lbs to lose.

I know I know it's really not bad and I know I can do it.

So here's my plan.

I'm watching what I eat and using the Lose It! app on my iPhone to help me keep track of my food intake.

I will start my workout routine tomorrow (Wednesday at the latest). I will also track this through the same app.

I have also written myself a little rewards list. I'm hoping thet my hubby will sponsor Maria's Weightloss Rewards program, because almost all my rewards include him...like giving me foot messages and painting my toe nails.

Other then that, work is going well and I am hoping to get myself fully in the swing of things this week.

How are you doing?

Oh! I have also started knitting a little hat for O. She has already grown out of all these (http://creativepotpourri.blogspot.com/2010/02/ive-been-knitting.html), so now I'm going to knit her a new hat-hopefully I will have it done bfore winters end.

My desk is a wreck and it's all CKI's fault! :)

I am learning tons right now about Circle K International. It's amazing, I have worked for Kiwanis for 6 years and I feel like I did the day I walked through the door all those years ago. So excited, nervous and scared all at the same time. Of course, I always say...if your not nervous then you don't think what you're doing is important. But at least back then...I knew my way around the computer I was using. I miss my Mac.

But I am excited to be working with this group of college students. I honestly think that they are the group in the Kiwanis world that is a huge untapped potential! And I think that's what keeps my head spinning all day and not constantly thinking about O and her cute little round face.

Well, back to the grind, but thankful for the little mental break.

Yeah, I was doing really well for a while and then…
Well…
You know…

Here's the poop on for me. I've been obsessed with Twitter lately (blame Twitter for my lack of blogging). But you know what...I really only like Twitter on my iPhone using "TwitBird". I know, weird right? But it's somehow far more intuative for me.

I also started reading some additional blogs, most notebly this one by Jackie. Jackie is a culinary student and Hoosier, from my 'hood.
I'm not kidding, we grew up in houses whose lots (almost) butted up next to each other and I used to babysit her. At least once or twice. So crazy to think about! She's now married (got married about a month after me) and living in NYC (I'm completely jealous-I love NYC and would live there in a hot minute). She has a great sense of humor, so head over and read about her adventures at the French Culinary Institute.

I also had my first shower on Saturday, so I have been working hard to make sure my registry is up to date, etc… I had a great time on Sunday with those ladies. I only wish I had remembered to bring my camera.
Note to self…have camera permanenty attached to self-once Bug gets here…document, document, document!

But other then that, we're just trying to get the house ready and do all that good jazz. Got color for Bug's room, we need to do the prep work on the room which includes taking down the icky floral border left by the 100 year old women who lived there before Chris moved in (10 years ago).

I also want to start looking for some freelance work. I'm over the drive and over the job. And there is so much going on in the office that it might be about time to fly the coop-I just wish the economy was better.

OK, so I've gotten myself back into twitter, so follow me!

I think because I have an issue with finding out baby info.
My issue you ask?
I can't stop looking for stuff…connecting with other moms, etc. I kinda got into that early on, but not like now. Hell I'm even doing it at work-probably not good for my career, but…

Twitter seems to be a place with a lot of mommies.

I even participated in a Twitter Party scavenger hunt. It was kinda crazy but a good experience.
What is a 'Twitter Party'?

This one was an hour long, hosted by ResourcefulMom in gahoots with DiapersDotCom all about Diapers.com.

This was how this one worked...you log into your Twitter account make sure you were following ResourcefulMom — and couldn't hurt to be following DiapersDotCom.

The party started at 8 (Indy time), so I made sure I was on a little before hand—mostly because I was scared I had done the time calculation wrong or that I was going to miss some critical piece of info. But I was glad I got there early.

At 8, ResourcefulMom started us out slow…just asking some questions and getting us to respond directly to her and with the hash marks/subject tag for the evening. That was good. It gave me some time to get situated and familiar with the format. (again…I'm a little of a Nervous Nelly every once in a while).

She started getting into the scavenger hunt questions/prize questions...the prizes were gift certificated to Diapers.com—I think the amounts ended up being $25, $50, $75 and $100.

Each questions refered to a specific portion of the Diapers.com website for the answer and she would state who the winner would be...the 14th person to Tweet her the answer, a random person, etc…you get the picture.

All the while making fun remarks and kind of pushing things along with fun questions in between the prize questions.

Although I didn't win anything, I learned a lot and I would definately do it again.

I was following a couple of the other participants and DiapersDotCom was RTing (retwitting) comments and tips from other moms.

What tips did I get and what did I learn (I even Retwitted some of them-I know I have some followers from my August 2010 Bump forum who didn't participate and I wanted to share) probably the one I like the most was from CouponClippin who said that when you're traveling you should have diapers delivered to your final destination.

I thought that was BRILLIANT! Seriously, we will be traveling over Thanksgiving and Bug will only be a couple months old—I don't want to lug a ton of diapers across the state if I don't have too. Chris agreed and thought it was an excellent idea—so we will probably be doing that.

I also learned what a Floppy Happy Hats are-seriously one of the questions was about them and my response was that I don't even know what they are. ResourcefulMom was nice enough to respond and tell me where I could find them and see what they are.

I know it seems minor...hahah you didn't know what the hat was, but someone taking the time to just explain a little is nice.

I don't really have a girlfriends with kids, I'm the first in my present little group of people-I've been told to write a book so all the others will get the 'practical' knowledge.

So I thought that was really sweet of her, because it's not like she wasn't already doing 10 things, but she took the time to help me.

Which is something I would do, but not everyone would.

That is huge to me.

Check out the cool new site I stumbled upon...thanks to Facebook really…Indie Tot.
It's kinda cool. I think it's pretty new, there's not a lot posted there but as the content grows I think it could be a really good resource.

Other then a crappy day at work. All I can say is: A crisis (one of the six you are having today) doesn't constitute an emergency on my part. Think ahead and do your job and you wouldn't constantly be in this situation.

Well, I think the baby is getting back at me for this morning...what
happened this morning?
I'm so glad you asked!
Usually at my 2:30-3 am wakeup call from my bladder, Bug starts
kicking. Usually then and again about 3:45. Well not this morning (or
I slept through it).
So I got a little freaked out, this could just be my 1/2 asleep mind
going into overdrive at 5 in the morning, but who cares!
I knew that if I scrunch myself up into a fetal position she/he will
start moving.
So, that's what I did.
And she followed suit.
Ahh, relief.
Kicks and somersaults. :)
Well, now he's been doing it lot today.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about it, just a little out of the
ordinary. But I have to admit, it's a totally cool feeling!

I know I know...it's been a while since I've written.

We are getting a lot of stuff ready for Bug.

Here's a most recent picture of me and Bug.

I am (in this picture) 23 weeks and 5 days, please excuse how crappy I look, but...that's me on a Friday after work. Just kinda frumpy and gross. :)

I've been working on a couple projects as well.
I re-joined the Yahoo, MonthlyDishcloth group. I finally finished this months cloth yesterday. It took me FOREVER to figure out what it was. Chris and I were looking at it and he couldn't figure it out either. But I let it sit for about 10 minutes (yes..that's forever, I have issues with patient, this 10 months of pregnancy thing is something I'm completely over. I'm ready to meet Bug) and after not looking at it for a while, I figured it out—rose! (I enhanced the photo some to make the image pop)

I've also been working on and finished the Bunny soaker and hat set by Knit Picks...I don't have a picture (so unlike me), but it's done. I need to start the duck, but I have a couple other things to finish up first.

Like this blanket I started making, the pattern is based on a ballband dishcloth.

It's not even 1/2 way done...probably closer to 1/3, but it's not too bad.

I also got stuff together for Jenny, who I am so excited about because she is starting a completely new chapter in her life...I haven't heard much and hoe to hear something soon from her, but I can't imagine a better-more deserving- women for great things to happen too.
Anyway…she has been gracious enough to make Bug's quilt. So earlier this week I mailed her a box of this fabric, which she is going to turn into a quilt...have NO idea how she will do it, but she has the talent and I know it will be beautiful!

I purchased the ~~new~~ debut album for Court Yard Hounds.

Now, I am a huge Dixie Chicks fan, but I am not so much a fan of this album. I think it's just too slow for me. I know it has gotten great reviews, but...maybe I'm just not a big enough country fan, I don't know...I will give it a couple more listens, but if I had to make a decision right now, I'd return it and get something else.

Lastly, but certainly not least. I am a winner!

I never win anything, but this is so darn cute I couldn't stand not joining the contest.

The story that made me cry this morning-this was sent to us by the local Project Linus coordinator:
…I am the mother of a Project Linus blanket recipient. Caitlyn recieved her blanket 2 1/2 years ago when she was only 7 and was undergoing a very painful bone surgery on both legs. She was a patient at the St. Vincent Children's hospital in Indianapolis. After the surgery the child life specialist was attempting to distract Caitlyn as she was in extreme pain. At one point the specialist brought in a fleece blanket for Caitlyn. Caitlyn's eyes lit up! This particular blanket was a horse pattern and Caitlyn was in love with horses. There was no way the Child life specialist could have known this. I truly believe this blanket was meant for Caitlyn. This blanket from then on did not leave her bed. She would not allow anyone to move her without the blanket. Over the last two years Cait has slept with this blanket every night. Yesterday Caitlyn underwent another surgery. This time I was in a hurry to leave the house and forgot the blanket. After awaking for surgery, the first thing Cait wanted to know was where her horsey blanket was. After she was stable and awake I made a trip home to get her blanket. I wanted you to know how important this blanket is for Caitlyn. It has gotten her through several incredibly tough rehabilitations. Please thank your volunteers for the work they put in to this great project.

I can't seem to get any motivation right now. I mean, since the weather has changed and is nice. I don't want to do anything.

I'm pretty sure that is totally and completely wrong.
I guess it could be worse, I could be like some of my fellow employees who have taken to napping in the little room off the bathroom. The one was previously used for women to pump once they have come back to work but are now relegated to pumping in what can only be described as a pantry.
But I tell you what, if that is still the case when I come back to work after having LO, I will make a stink about it. The pantry is really not an acceptable place to have to whip your boob out and pump.

I have no idea what to talk to you guys about, cause this week has been a blur!
I don't know why.
Nothing important happened really, although I did 'pop' yesterday. Seriously, all of the sudden, I can't fit in any of my pants. Thank goodness for Belly Bands! I purchased two about 3 weeks ago and I am so glad I did, cause I've needed them yesterday and today. I will have to go out and get some maternity pants.

OK so, I did finish this project.

What do you think? It's a swaddle 'glove' (sorry, I have no idea what to call it-ideas are always welcome) I wish I had a baby doll to put into it so you can get the full effect. I was thinking that it would be a cute addition to my etsy shop. Would you purchase one?

Lastly, I started on the baby bunny outfit last night. Just the bloomer part and I do this everytime. It calls for dpn's or for magic loop method on circulars. I forgot that I have tried magic loop before and that I don't like it! I just can't seem to wrap my head around it properly and I think the 'track' between the two needles ends up more noticeable then with dpn's so I ripped it and now I'm working on dpn's. I'm used to them. I guess I could have done both the duckie and the bunny at the same time on two circulars, but I don't have enough circulars in the sizes I need.

I'm thinking of doing a new mommy, mature mommy swap.

Like hosting it. If I can flush out my idea.

The premise would be to pair an expectant mom with an experienced mom.

The experienced parent could dispense some advice-as solicited-or just share their one best piece of advice and a small gift for the mommy to be-$10-20 max.

But I can't think of what would be in it for the experienced mom. I mean, a new mom can't offer give the same way to the experienced mom. So what would the experienced mom get? Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Let me know what you think, maybe it's just a stupid idea.

Oh Maybe something pampering for the experienced mom, lotion or something for them as opposed to baby related....I don't know!

Today I had a doctors appointment (14 weeks, 2 days) and I heard the heart beat (again).

How cool and even better, the doctor was listening and there was this kinda static or I guess more of a thump and the doctor said "That was movement!" (He seemed kinda excited too, but it could just have been my perception)
"Let's see if he/she will do it again."
No such luck, but it was still cool and it makes me cry just typing about it.

Also, the baby and I (this is now going to be how I refer to everything, since the baby is ALWAYS with me right now) went to Hobby Lobby. I got some stuff to start a little scrap book for the Cuddle Bug (baby's nick name, Chris's is Cuddle Bear and mine is Sweetie) and we -the baby and I- decided on colors for his/her room and everything that comes along for a while. Green, Orange and Blue.

I like it, and so does the baby! :)

Well, Little Sister leaves tomorrow morning to drive across the country with her puppies. She is moving to California.

Just for a short period of time, she took a travel nursing job out there.

I'm excited for her, but I will miss her. She's my little sister!!!

So I decided to take my mind off of the fact that she is leaving by going through…
the box.

This is a box of baby items I have collected over the years and recently started adding to.

Is that weird?
If it is...too late...it doesn't matter now.

So here are the contents all spread out, the original items.

Some of them were mine, because I liked them and picked up a while ago (high school, early college years-those would be the stuffed animals). Others are things I had picked up and purchased for someone else (a baby shower) but got too much stuff and never returned them-the other toys and the bibs (one of which I think I am going to save and give to Melissa).

Others are just things I saw and picked up...The stinky diaper cover! How cute is that!

I also picked up this onsie the other day-this will be for Thanksgiving around my family I think.

I have some other items, but I think I will save them for another day.

I have made these hats for the little bug. :)

I have entered my second trimester and I'm a little less tired then I was before. But I'm still feeling a little sickly sometimes. Just nausiated, no actual throwing up.

Chris and I have told our families and a select group of friends. Still not mentioning anything on facebook or any other mass media location—haven't even told the majority of my coworkers and those I've told have been sworn to secrecy. Maybe next week I'll spill the beans.

Other then that, Chris and I have been reevaluating how and were we are going to live, we're sticking here for about another year and then we'll get the house on the market and move.

I really want to find a knitting swap or something, I need a deadline for getting some knitting done. Does that make any sense? Plus I just love swaps. :) Spoiling someone and being spoiled.

Beyond that, I hope to get back into a routine with the blogging, we'll see...this is a step in the right direction right? But I still read blogs all the time, even if I'm not posting. :)

I finished my first book for the year last night: Summer on Blossom Street.
It was pretty good. I've grown accustom to to her writing style after reading the rest of the series, but I do have to say the amount of fluff-repeatative stuff was driving me nuts.
In all honesty, I started the book before the new year so I don't know if it counts with my 2010 to do list, but I'm going to count it. I'm also going to finish another book I started last year (that sounds so weird to day). It's called Dear Rosie-it's OK I liked P.S. I Love You better. But I'm going to finish it anyway.
Not to much else is going on. Just back to work today and not very happy about it.

I am also starting FLY plan tonight, I will have to do it in the evenings when I get home form work. But it's usually not that much they are talking about doing, so I should be OK. Although I do worry that when I get home from work, I will be exhausted, because I actually had to use my brain today instead of mindless reading, watching TV and napping. :)

Oh how I long for last week.

Lastly and most importantly, if you're reading this but never comment (that's OK-although I don't know who you are) or don't also read Jennifer's blog, could you please pray for her and her family? I know she would appreciate it. Her DH is battling cancer and they have hit some bumps in the road.

Today is the day!
We are finishing several projects that have been in the works.

I am finishing the snowman I started—like 3 years ago. I finished painting him and put the finishing touches on him. (Pic TK)

I'm trying to clean up the 'craft' room, in order to find the socks I started for Chris—again about 2 years ago. I also need to find the magnets I know I have so I can put up the Cleaning list. (Pic TK)

Chris and I are going to clean up the master bath, it's covered in dust and Chris is going to paint the room. YEAH! (Pic TK)

Hopefully by the end of the year we will put the toilet in and the vanity and sink back in and into place and the shower tiled. Then (probably) after the new year we will be able to grout the shower. By my birthday, we should be able to use it (Fully). That will be exciting!

I'm sure while I'm cleaning the 'craft' room I will come across about 4 other projects I haven't finished. We'll see how to work those in. :)

I do need to finish my mom's handies, I just need to weave in the ends. And tonight we are also going to finish Christmas shopping. (Pic TK)

Sorry I didn't write yesterday about my adventures in Pulled Pork, but we went Christmas shopping instead.

The pulled pork was completely easy. Just purchased a packed of seasoning from McCormicks and followed the instructions. I wish I had looked better at the pork before I put it into the crockpot, cause once it was cooked and I started 'pulling' the pork (which I just did in the crockpot) I noticed that there was quite a bit more fat that I would have liked. So…lesson learned.

I was just going to make instant potatoes to go with the pork, but then about 1hr before the meat was done I decided I should do something other then that—don't ask where these thoughts come from, they just materialize!

So, I knew we had green peas. I know this because the last time Chris and I went to Meijer he grabbed about 10 bags. Yes you read that correctly, TEN bags—for his lunches. Well, I have decided that there are less important things to argue about then the food the man puts into the grocery cart. But, we got home and there were already about 5 bags in the freezer—Yes we then had fifteen bags of green beans. These are one of my least favorite veggies. So, he has been taking them to work (he eats a whole bag of veggies at a time, with a whole container of canned chicken—the large ones, from Costco for lunch and never gains a pound, sometimes I hate him) but we still have a bunch in the freezer.

I found a recipe for green beans Almandine in my Betty Crocker recipe book (the one with the read and white checkers on it, you have one, the entire world has one). We obviously had the green beans for the recipe and everything else—butter, salt and lemon juice I believe— except almonds. However I had a huge thing of walnuts (I don't know why) so I figured that walnuts would work and they did! Really very good for green beans.

I also decided we needed some bread, should have just gotten some from the store, but whatever!

Every recipe on the book calls for yeast, which of course we don't have. But I finally came across one for beer bread and we have a ton of beer. Specifically Yuengling (Pronounced Ying Ling). So beer plus a couple other ingredients we also already had and we got some bread. Some extremely dense bread.

So I only have the pictures of the start of the food making process after that, I got lazy. :(

I have been watching a lot of movies lately!
I watched:
Up - Too cute for words and completely made me cry. I might have to purchase it.

Paper Heart — It was OK. My life isn't better or worst for having seen it, although I doubt I'd watch it again.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince — I forgot, this was probably my least favorite Harry Potter book and I can't say that the movie changed that opinion. But it's Harry Potter and I can't help put get all into it. Cause…it's Harry Potter.

And Most recently Julie & Julia — I didn't read the book, but I think I might and I liked the movie. I mean, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci (The Devil Wears Prada was a great appetizer to this one). Although I have NO desire to see him in The Lovely Bones-can't watch him play that character (I did read that book and The Devil wears Prada). I have been a fan for a long time, the first think I remember seeing him in was when he played Death—Name that movie and I'll send you a Christmas present!

Last night I made quiche well I guess techniquely it's a pie (according to the website).
Italian Spinach Sausage Pie
Here are the shots.

Look at how thick that is! I don't know if you can tell, but my spoon is standing up on it's own. I have never made a quiche that is that thick! It's GREAT to work with. I will probably use it this recipe as a base for the next quiche I make cause that's a whole lot easier to get into a pie crust then something soupie.

And I also got to use my Pampered Chef pie dish- I've never used it..It's it pretty!
As usual I always do a little something to the recipe. I did not use all the spinach, probably 1.5-1.75 packages of spinach instead of the full 2. I also NEVER really measure the salt/pepper/garlic/ etc… so there's that. And I opted to not put the top layer of crust on the top. Instead about 1/2 way though I covered it with aluminum foil. However, I did follow the directions that told me to brush (with my fingers cause I don't have a brush) the edges with an egg yolk and water mixture.

Isn't it beautiful! Even Chris said it was. He told me to take a picture-which I had already done.

And today he told me (Again) how good it was and said that it should go onto the Chris's favorites list. :)

Tonight, I'm making Pulled pork. I'll let you know how it turns out. I mean, how could it go wrong, it's in the crockpot!

I'm working at a local coffee shop today, it's called Strange Brew. It's awesome. I wish I had a regular camera, but all I have is the one on my computer. So here's a pic:

OH and they have KNITTING SUPPLIES! How cool is that? Lots of local art. Do you have a local coffee shop you like?

I'm also getting ready to finish up on a custom order for my etsy shop.

So, I buy and make homemade, the majority of my Christmas gifts are homemade, perhaps not by me, but I have purchased from others on etsy. Such as:

And just going to local craft fairs.

• Officially went today and got my name changed at the SS office-not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Great way to start the week, accomplish something!

• Running errands (AKA-Christmas shopping) Only got around to getting some things for my new niece and...well ME.

• Got item shipped-I made ANOTHER sale at my shop on Etsy (and have a custom order)

• Going to visit family later this week...:) can't wait to see my yiayia! I think I will take some video of the CrAzY family.

And today, started working on the final versions of our Thank You cards.

I have ordered photos from Costco Photo to go onto the cards, I have a small sampling of them, but waiting for the bulk order (bulk from Costco...like that's hard to imagine).

I didn't realize that the card packs were different until I got home. I got the Cafe ones at Hobby Lobby, but they didn't have more then one pack. Had to run to JoAnns to get the others, I thought they matched, but no such luck, but they'll work. Surprisingly, they were $1 more at JoAnns as opposed to Hobby Lobby.

Naked Monday

I'm not really naked! Geez perverts!
I just feel naked.

I forgot to put on my rings (including my wedding ring), my ear rings, forgot my water bottle in the house, and about 6 other things I can't even thing of right now because I haven't needed them today.

Well, since last weeks completion list was a good motivator, I will try again this week.

I found a cup wrap thingie that just needs to be stitched together, so that's an easy finish.

I also want to finish the yoga mat bag I have about 2/3 done. I have been worried that it's actually a little too tight for a yoga mat. Although I did shove mine into what I have done thus far so, yarn is stretchy right?

There are also the new pair of hand warmies I started Sunday. You are asking yourself...why didn't you just take the yoga mat bag? Well, because it's a little big with the mat in it (I've been too lazy to take it out)—that's why.
Don't judge!
And maybe the second question is, why do you need a project to take to your parents...because my parents house is like 35-45 minute drive now and I made Chris drive. So, I could work on something while he drove and we listened to the Colts game, which was what I wanted to do too...he was very accommodating this weekend.

Plus, we have a tendency to sitting around and gab at my parents, this way I have something to do while we all chatted.

This is a week of loose end-tie-ups and I assure you, there are MANY!

First things first. House closing happens today at 3pm. Please say a little prayer that it all goes well.

I also plan on completing my order for hand warmers, I'm almost done. Just some sew in of ends, take some photos, post and get paid.

I have a couple almost empty HABA (health and beauty aids-years of working for Osco made me do that) products that I look forward to using up so I can use some new ones. I'm trying to be really good about this, cause…I have a TON of this stuff. These are the things you notice when you have to move them.

I also plan to pay off one bill this week and hopefully have the last second one paid off by middle of the month. That will feel good!

I have 2 books that are near completion.
One is called Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto
Seriously, her name is Banana...it's right there on the cover of the book! Maybe she and Gwenyth Paltrow's daughter Apple should hang. :)

I liked the Kitchen story (the book is a collection of two short stories Kitchen and Moonlight Shadow). It's kind of a sad yet hopeful look at someone coming of age. It reminds me a little of The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I don't know if it's just the size of the book (both only about 150 pages and very easy to carry around) or if it's more the subject matter which is similar but The Perks of Being a Wallflower seemed much darker to me. It could also be that both the books are pretty 'deep' (do you know what I'm talking about) like there is a complete double meaning but I'm so shallow (I don't mean this in a bad way) that I don't get the deeper meaning. Make sense?

The Moonlight Shadows story I haven't gotten really into, but I'm going to finish it cause I'm about 10 pages in and there are only another 30 so why not. I like the sense of completion.

I second book I'm almost done with is Second Chance by Jane Green.
This book had to grow on me. I started it MONTHS ago. But I have gotten into it. It's your basic chick lit — what else would you expect from the writer of Jemima J (which I loved!). I think I just didn't identify with or care for any of the characters in this one until I got into it a little more. It's about a group of old friends who come together after the death of one of the friends who used to run in this group.

If you are interested in reading either of these books, let me know within a week or so and I'll mail it to you, otherwise I'll put them on BookMooch.

Have you read anything recently? Anything worth sharing? I have a couple other books in the wings, but I'm always looking for suggestions and —as you can tell— I usually have 2-3 books going at once.

I have been messing around with the look of my blog, I think I started messing with it one day last week and now, even though Google Analytics says's it's working, it's not really retrieving any data, so I'm going with it's not!
I even tested it by going to this blog myself and seeing if I could drum up at least one hit.
No such luck, so I reset it today (I hope) and it will all work out.

I did get a little knitting done last night on the hand warmers for my coworker. I am doing my own pattern. This is the first time I've ever done my own pattern on something structured. I mean sure on a dishcloth or something like that, but nothing that actually NEEDS to be the correct size to actually work. :)

Other then that, not to much going on. I have been looking at iPhones, cause I really want one. But I keep telling myself I'm not going to get one until the house is out from under me (5 days or so!) and I have paid off the remaining house bills and then one additional bill. So maybe December 15 I can get one. I think it would be a nice Christmas present to me. :) Plus, I could be farm more connected and I really don't feel very connected right now. I haven't been on Facebook or Twitter or even reading my Google Reader.

Failed again!

Oh my!

Yesterday I was bound and determined to upload pictures to this blog! I took pictures of the living room before and after I cleaned it on Sunday, I needed to download the photos I took of the furniture in my spare bedroom that I want to try and sell, I got pictures of the warmie glove things before I frogged them. I was going to download them all yesterday, but I brought the wrong connector cable!

I can't believe I did that.

Well…yes I can! :)

So again, no pictures.

We have been staying at my house yesterday and today to pack. Yesterday was kinda a bummer for me. Didn't get as much done as I wanted. I asked Chris to get the couple of rubbermaid containers I had in my shed. I kinda refuse to go in there cause there's some small animal living in there (I'm convinced) and I don't want to come face to face with a raccoon or something. So, he went in there and pulled them out. Unfortunately they had been turned over by said animal and the shed occasionally floods so almost everything that was in there is mildewed or completely ruined.

This includes about 4 Cabbage Patch dolls from my childhood, not to mention the Madame Alexander dolls I wasn't allowed to play with as a child because I might ruin them (how ironic). Yearbooks, etc… So last night I was very sad. Nothing I can do about it. I should have taken them out a long time ago, but I thought they'd be OK. I didn't think that they'd get toppled over.

So tonight Chris will pack at my place and I already had planned on taking a class at Archivers tonight to make the recipe stand for his mom for Christmas (yes, I'm already planning Christmas presents).

Tomorrow we will be at his house because I signed us up for a CSA (http://www.localharvest.org/csa/) called Basic Roots and we get our first 1/2 share tomorrow. I'm totally interested in seeing what we get.

The rest of the week will be spent at my place packing and hopefully end on Saturday when we move everything out.

WEll, it's only Sunday morning—8:30ish am here. I should have gotten up like an hour ago to get some stuff done, but I laid in bed instead.

Friday I worked a lot on Dreamweaver to learn the program. I need to work some more. Cause, things don't look exactly the same as they did on the tutorial I was using. It's going OK,just different, another little hurtle to get over.
It's all part of my plan. Learning Dreamweaver, improving this blog (aren't you proud of me...this is like the 7th post this month!), being more active not only in the crafting community, but IRL, crafting more, just so much!

Yesterday I knitted on a pair of hand warmers (which I already have a pair) but had to frog them AGAIN! It was the second time I frogged them. But this last time I put a line in right after the ribbing, so when I frogged I didn't have to COMPLETELY frog. YEAH! So starting the pattern again, but this time trying a different patter. :)
So let's face it, I'll probably frog again.

Today I think I will be cleaning out my car, cleaning around the house and planning my next week. This has become one of Chris and my activities on Sunday evening. Which is good. Cause we definatly need to plan these next couple weeks cause...

MY HOUSE IS SOLD! Gotta be out Nov. 2. And the inspection went pretty well! This will be a HUGE weight off our shoulders. But it will just add a different weight of getting the stuff done here. So hopefully once ALL my stuff moves in, I will organize house and Chris will finish bathroom. I am going to take some pictures when Chris gets up and I will post them and explain the work we are doing.

For now, I'm outtie for my Sunday ritual. Going through the paper and drinking my coffee, then usually church (just not this week).

The deal on the house is going down! The bid is signed and we agreed on price, etc. Now the inspection, so I am praying for that to go smoothly.
I am scared and happy and nervous all at the same time. I dislike that! I prefer one emotion at a time. :)

I have also been very motivated. So trying to strike while the iron is hot (or so they say) I am going to redesign this blog. :)

This is where you come in. Can you help me pick a new banner. These are VERY quick and dirty. I was looking at fonts, I looked at a TON of photo/background type options yesterday, but as always too many appeal to me and I'd have to change my blogs appearance every day if I wanted to do all the things that were in my head. So, since I am not Flaunt magazine which seems to somehow get away with changing their masthead every month, I have to pick one.
These are not final by any stretch of the imagination, but I am posting them to see if anyone has a clear preference (or aversion). Let me know!

I wanted to thank Jennifer and Cristina for your words on Friday.

I think I was just having a really down day. I think there's some bad feng shui in the new house. I am going to have to work on that.

I got an offer today on my house, selling it would be a huge weight off my shoulders. Unfortunately the offer is about 15K less then the list price. Yes, I know the economy is bad and it's a buys market, but...I'll counteroffer but that'll be it. We'll see how it goes.

Other then that, I have been doing some knitting. Only because a girl at work asked me to make her a pair of these. She even said she'd purchase them! So I will post them on my etsy site and see if I can't drum up some business from that. And a good review, cause my last buyer didn't give me any feedback (at least I don't think she did).

Wish me luck with the realtor. Maybe if the house sells, Chris will let me quit my job and try and start my crafting business/craft all day. :)

Frogging

Sorry, I have no pictures again. I don't know what my deal is...I just can't seem to get on the ball.

I did some knitting yesterday. Mostly because I was sick, I still feel kinda sick really. But it was nice to relax and snuggle (not with a snuggie, which we saw this weekend at Menards...they sell the most random thing there, but I digress) watch some TV/movies and knit.

I was making some hand warmers, for my etsy shop (I think) and I thought I'd try the magic loop method with circulars. It's something I have wanted to try for a long time now, but never have. I have to say, I'm not a fan. So I moved to 5 dpn's and then made a mistake and had to frog it.
I restarted.
This time, I decided I do it like socks, two on two circulars! This I have tried before, but never finished a project and I do need to frog the socks I have previously started on two circs. But that's a story for another day.

Still need to decided on the yoga mat bag. Haven't really worked on it, just waiting to make a decision. I guess I figure if I stare at it a little longer maybe the right decision will come to me.

Alright I will really try and take some photos...but I make no promises, cause I obviously can't follow though, so I figure I'll keep the expectations low. :)

My head feels like it's going to explode.

Seriously! I even took a couple of xtra strength tylenol and that doesn't seem to be helping.

I got a couple extra hours of sleep...not really, but I did come into work late and I'm so going to have to pay for that in about 15 minutes when I go home.

OK getting back to what's going on.

Not much crafting wise.
I did do a little knitting while watching the Colts school the Cardinals on Sunday night. But not much and I'm thinking that this yoga bag sack I've been working on, is really snug and makes me really think about frogging it. I'll try and take a pic tonight and post it.

We've been working on the house. I've been trying to put things into place. And it's not really working all that well. But there is actually more space then I thought there was. That is a pleasant surprise.

My house is on the market, has been for about a week or so. No showings yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Other then that, I'm seriously thinking about what to do with the shop. I want to keep it going, but I don't have the time to knit. Before Christmas, I'd like to finish the knitted socks I started for Chris, like forever ago! and I'd also like to finish a cross-stitch Christmas hanging decoration I started like forever ago as well.

I guess I have my answer...no more etsy shop, maybe I should finish what I've perviously started.

I really do want to quit my job and just craft all day!

I haven't had anytime to do much of anything that isn't house related this week and a half. I did knit a little during the Colts game on Monday night. And really that is all I want to do. Something from my normal routine.

but I feel guilty for wanting to. Why?
Because Chris's house is a wreck. And we should be woring on the house all the time. I mean ALL the time. We should have taken the week of our honeymoon and just stayed at his house completing a ton of stuff. Cause there is something to do in EVERY room.
EVERY ROOM.

I can't do anyting. I barely have a closet with my clothing in it.

I have been very preoccupied lately.

On September 5 I got married and that has really taken up so much of my time. I don't know how people plan a wedding for like a year. I was not that into the whole process. Vegas would have been just fine for me. I'm not one of those girly girls who always dreamt of her wedding or anything like that. I dreamt of being married and having a partner for life, but not all that froofroo stuff that goes with it.

But I can honestly say that I have married my best friend. The person who knows me best and still loves me inspite of the not so pretty parts of me that I (like everyone else) try to keep hidden.

And in addition to the wedding, I was trying to sell some knitted items on Etsy. Not as easy as I would have thought, but just before several things were going to expire I made my first sale. I sold a yoga mat bag! And I didn't sell just one, but my purchaser wanted an additional bag in black for a friend. YEAH!

So I promised her I'd make it before Sept 5. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I was working on it! You can see the Monday before getting married I took it to an Indianapolis Indians baseball game and worked (you may not want to watch this video if you are an avid baseball fan and believe anyone who doesn't know about baseball is unAmerican, cause...well I know very little about baseball and it shows).

But I finished the bag on the way to Pensacola, FL for our honeymoon and sent it from there. Thank Susan for being understanding.

I'll try and be more regular about posting. I am hoping to get back into some knitting now that life will be getting a little more normal. Although, my house goes on the market on Monday (please pray for a quick sale) and I am moving into Chris's house which is a whole beast of it's own!

I do miss reading and hearing from everyone, I hope to get back into the groove and rebuild my friendships and hopefully make some new ones!

wedding wedding and more wedding!

So I have had a freak out today.

Looking at the wedding to do list, I got (and still am) worried. I know everything will all work out and everything will somehow all get done. But it can't stop my freak out.

So tonight I worked on my shoes...I started last week. I wanna wear flip flips/something comfortable and I don't want anything that makes me too tall.

So here is what I began with last week.

And then I cut the thong part out of the flip-flops.

Then I fed the ribbon through the holes. I was trying to figure out how to make the ribbon stay into place so I decided to use some medal pieces from jewelry making...don't ask me what they are called. I just remember that I had them. I stuck then horizontally through the foam in the shoe. I think I might also add some glue or something to help reinforce the medal pieces.

I tied them around the back, I don't want the shoes to flip and flop so that I still need to worry about.
I've wrapped them two different ways.

Here's one one way and one the other.

The second way makes the shoe less noisy, but it's all still a work in progress. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

I am also getting ready to start on the invites. I have a plan so starting tomorrow I will start cutting paper.

So..that is next on my list. Many many cuts and some printing too. The verbiage will be on the vellum. Then the larger ivory card will have all the reception/accommodations/etc.. on it. It will be partly printed and partly stamped. The smaller piece will be the RSVP card and it will be printed on one side and stamped on the other.

I have one other major project, finishing my shawl for the day, it is almost done. Just need to check the size and then come up with a method of closing. I'll get that one photoed soon.

I'm not doing much but feeling good and itching. I have a weird itching on my shoulder.

Anyway, I did a bunch of work in the yard yesterday and today (no not the cause of the itching).

I haven't done any more on the pattern, which Jen, is not another wedding dress. It's just a dress. McCall's pattern M5621. I have started cutting a little Sunday. But I haven't done any more. Jen, I would call you for advise, if I had your number. And I have read the instructions (which I don't really understand) but it really doesn't say anything about interfacing on the back when I was purchasing the fabric and the pattern. Not until I started reading the pattern did I find out tht I needed interfacing. And why would you cut the interfacing seperately and then iron it to the piece of fabric? Why not iron on the interfacing THEN cut! These are the questions I ask. Perhaps I should have started with something a little easier. Like a pillow.

Another day

Wow, today I am still not feeling really great, I keep getting tired really easily.

I did go to the doctor last week. I had some blood tests and a chest x-ray. She'd really like me to get an MRI to see what the one-sided lethargy is about, but I'm holding off on that. Yesterday she got the results of my blood work and I have a really low B-12. REALLY low: it should be between 211 and 900, they prefer you're around 500. Mine is 179. So I have started on B-12 suppliments. According to this most of my symptoms can be explained by the B-12 stuff.

So, we'll retest in a couple weeks, if the B-12 doesn't go up, then I will have to go get shots daily for a week and then once a week for a month after that, then monthly after that. And I will probably be on B-12 for the rest of my life. It's interesting, because really the last time I was feeling 'normal' was back when I was doing a lot of low carb diet stuff. And protein (animal protein) has lots of B-12. So maybe this is an explainer for everything lately. at least, I hope. I kinda wish the Dr. office was closer, cause I'd do the shots now, in hopes of feeling a lot better instantly. Maybe I should?

In other news, I got the Wii Active workout. I plan on starting tomorrow. I hope I'm up to it, but I'm going to do it, even if it's only for 10 mins. I need to start somewhere! And I am ready to get my ass back into shape.

I also started making my dress. I purchased the pattern like a month ago. But...I really need to find some good instructions (preferably video) on sewing with patterns. Do I cut out those little notches? How do I use interfacing?

OK, I am sucked into Bridezilla. I can't stop watching, these girls are totally CRAZY! Chris and I were talking about how happy we are that I haven't turned into one...yet. :) No I will never be one of those girls.

I have been working on the shawl for the wedding. I will try and do a photo of that tomorrow.

Right now, I'm going to watch more trash TV and paint my nails, I mean...I might was well get started on being half the pampered bridezilla of those girls! :) hahahhha Maybe I'll also give myself a little facial!

So, wanna hear what I did? I bet you don't because you are so not going to like me after I tell you and it takes too long to write out. But let this be known. I did what I did out of love for my friends. I did what I felt was right even though I knew it could have been misunderstood: But I did it anyway. If someone is emotional and says something in the heat of the moment that could not only hurt themselves, but others, including an innocent you have to do something. And I did.

I've had one friend really supports the decision I made and has been vocal about it. Chris as well. The friend is pissed and thinks I was trying to ruin her life. The other party isn't talking to me...not surprising he hasn't talked to me in months. All the other friends have been silent.

I just feel crappy, mostly because I feel like I did the right thing and am worried about the outcome. I have Chris and I have the one good friend who really supported what happened, And that is the important thing. I know it is. It's just lonely out here. Does that make any sense?

You ask for strength and patience, he puts you in situations where you can develop those things yes? Man is it hard.

Do you journal

I've been thinking. I really want to get back into journaling. But I want to do something more then that. I mean, I really always have in some respect.
I write down where I went who I went with in my daily 'todo' list type journal. Sometimes I add sketches and ticket stubs, but I don't always include feelings and words about the day, and even more rarely photos.
But I really think this might be the way to go. Something that will be both functional and still capture life.
Do any of you do that? Got suggestions?
Here is some past snapshots into my 'todo' list.
I use a Franklin Covey todo list model for the most part (at least that's where it started), I don't always used to priority stuff though, I'm not always good at that. I suppose I just have a running 'priority list' in my head. But as I get older...I start thinking that maybe this is also something I should be more cognoscente of.

I used a computer journaling software for a while. I don't remember what it was called. I wasn't a huge fan. But I am feeling more and more drawn to journaling lately. I think something is just missing in my life, you know. A good girlfriend to really bend the ear of. Don't get me wrong, I have some great friends and I do bend their ear (although I probably bend Chris's more then anyone elses). But I'm just missing that one person who will kinda get it all. I don't know that I've ever had one of those, perhaps the journal has always been that for me.

And the journaling probably isn't hurt by the fact that I LOVE paper and notebooks. :)

Sad today

I'm really kinda sad today.

I don't really know why.

I'm just...not quite right, if that makes any sense. A long time ago I would have called it a bad personal day.

I think part of it is my weight right now. It's not even just my weight, I'm just not happy with my body. I used to be. I know it's because I've stopped working out all together. I have people to get into this again with, but I'm just not feeling it and I don't know why. I want to feel better, but I don't have the motivation.

Not even the wedding is a motivator. I want to be married to Chris, I am ready for it. I just feel like I'm stuck in having to get all this stuff done right now. I can't ever get it all done. NEVER, and I know that, but it still makes me sad. Ugg!

OK well I promised photos so here you go. Here's the first dress I purchased:

But I had to purchase this one. No picture of me in it, but everytime I thought about my wedding day with Chris I see myself in this dress. Now I just need to figure out how to look (and feel) great in it. Anyone have any suggestions to get there. I need the motivation please.

Stuff going on & Fill in Friday #124

It has been a long time since I've posed here. Sorry...thanks for the nudge Jennifer (note of sarcasm). She's always nudging me! But she is right to. Thanks you (no sarcasm at all).

So here's what's going on with me.

I have been working really hard at getting my Etsy Shop—mariadesigns—up and running, yes I have an etsy shop. I have been there about a month and haven't sold a single item, which makes me a little sad. But hopefully I will sell something soon. As a way of getting that going I have started a companion blog to go with it—mariadesignsblog—and I've been trying to Twitter too—mariadesigns. so I have this whole branding thing going. Or at least trying. If anyone has any feedback as to way to get the shop out there or items I should make, PLEASE let me know. I am really trying to make this something...anything! So... that's about it. If I'm knitting I'm knitting for something up here.

Although I need to start making a new Highland stole. I purchased the yarn (a really nice alpaca blend-I think, I'll have to check) at a local yarn shop that was going out of business and I want to make it for my wedding, cause I'm always cold. It's an offwhite to go with my dress.

And speaking of the wedding, I purchased another wedding dress the other day. Yes now I have two, It's a long story. Maybe I'll explain tomorrow and post a picture. YES that's what I'll do...trying to get myself posting more then one day a week and create a buzz! :) hahahaha

Look at what I made this weekend!

My first attempt at home-made greeting cards. Both birthday cards, one for my mom and the other for Chris' sister. I ended up making a modification to Karen's cause I didn't like the 'age' portion of it, I scratched it off and put another little flower on it. But I forgot to take another photo before I sent it. Opps!

I'm quite proud. And tonight, I think instead of knitting, I'm going to go try and find fabric and a pattern for a fun dress I can make. I am totally in a sewing mood. I think I have crafting ADD!

I finished the Highlander Stole. Well, the knitting part. Now I just need to find a pin to use to close it.

I think I'm going to make another one. One in a lighter color to use at the wedding. I am the type of person who gets cold easily and my dress is strapless.

Now I'm working on a yoga bag I just designed, it's not the first one I've ever made, you might remember this one I made for Mindy forever ago. I asked her the other day how she likes it and how it's been holding up. She said she doesn't really use it because she purchased a bigger mat and it doesn't fit. So I've decided to make one for myself, and I want to try this pattern I've been thinking up. We'll see how it turns out. I'll let you know.

But I think I should finish my moms garden bag first. I started it...back in March and I need to finish it up. I need to either figure out how to get one of the sides to match up (one is about an inch shorter) or rip out one side and start over. I guess I'll work on that soon since my moms birthday is the 15th, Tax Day!

I did get the taxes done. Yeah, I just have to send in my Indiana taxes this week. I could file Federal via the internet for FREE, but state was $19.99. Stupid Indiana!

I'm also at Chris's tonight for American Easter. Chris and I spent the day with his family, a little overwhelming. Now I'm going sit around and knit while watching either: Mansfield Park, Lars and the Real Girls, Marilyn Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing & Charm School, Monsoon Wedding or Wonderfalls. I haven't decided which. Oh and I'm drinking Peroni. Hope I can knit with a couple beers in me.

Next weekend is Greek Easter. Yes we have a different Easter (read the Date of Easter section if you're interested) or this may help you with the difference, or just make you laugh a little.

I'm so excited to be knitting again!
I'm making the Highlander Stole. It's coming along really nicely. I think I'm going to make another one once I finish this one, but in a lighter color. I'd like to wear it at the wedding reception.

I'm also starting an Etsy shop. I have a bunch of Soap Sacks and a couple of kitchen towels/dishclothes I'm going to try and sell.

Oh where to begin, I'll begin with the easy stuff!
Knitting

I recently finished this jacket and dress Barbie combo for Chris's niece.

It was actually pretty easy, however the instructions for the jacket really threw me off. I think I wasn't expecting to have the back, shoulders and front to be all one piece. So I just ~~followed~~ trusted the instructions and this is what it looked like after the sleeves and back were made. But it all worked out. I found the pattern (for both) here.

I also started this Garden Bag for my mom for Mothers Day. But since I don't crochet, I'm knitting it. So far it's going well. Don't you think?

We'll see how it all ends up, hope to get the sides all together tonight and start on the bottom.

And then...there's the wedding...
I'm so excited about marrying Chris, but the wedding plan is stressing me out.

I have about a million choices for places all given to me by others (I think my dad sent me about 8 places yesterday).
Here is a sampling:
The Rathskeller One of my FAVORITE places in the city to drink, only in the spring, summer and fall because of the Biergarten, which you can't rent on weekends...I'm thinking that one is out.

The Mavris It's beautiful inside, but probably a little too much area for me. I am holding onto the reality that this is going to be a small(ish) wedding.

The Indianapolis Children's Museum I have so many fond memories of this place, almost every Sunday when I was growing up we went to either TCM or the Zoo after church for 'family' time. This was of course back when they were much cheaper. And this is an expensive out of the question location.

The South Dunes Golf Course Never been there, but doesn't even sound appealing.

The Fountain Square Theater This would be cool, just because of the part of town it's in. But, I'm not sure.

Crystal River Walk Near Broad Ripple-a very trendy/artsy part of town–my cousins would then have someplace to go party after the wedding.

The Indianapolis Art Center Also in Broad Ripple, probably the place I've most ALWAYS wanted to have a wedding, but now it's all trendy and expensive, probably already booked as well. But I can't get the women to call me back so...I might never know!

The Marriott Very pretty, definately a possibility since it's attached to a hotel, then my drunk cousins wouldn't have to drive. :) But they haven't called back either.

The Lumiere Very Pretty, Very Expensive and Very far from everything!

Valle Vista Country Club It's outside and on the Southside, Far from my family on the Northside, but easy for Chris's family.

Mallow Run Winery The first place we looked and really a place I have also been thinking about for a long time as a possible wedding location. But we might end up being too big for it. It's WAY too far away from everything, although easy for Chris's family

The Yellow Rose Inn Which is very much my favorite location right now! Just old time beautiful/retro elegant. And they have rooms my family could rent.

I think Mallow and Yellow Rose are my favorites and I think we have a good chance of getting a date at The Yellow Rose.

Christie, my mom and I are going to go wedding dress shopping next weekend. Chris will be completely preoccupied with the Chrysler trade show/flea market something rather.

This will be the second time I've looked at dresses. I found one I liked when we first started looking, but I tell you what...Davids Bridal has shitty customer service, so we will see about someplace else.

And that is the wedding as a whole, as of right now. But I really do hope to have things figured out by the end of the week. We'll see. I'll let you know!

Lost and knitting

I am watching Lost and writing this post. Please note: If you haven't watched this weeks episode beware, cause I comment on stuff as I'm writing.

I guess I'm not actually knitting.

But during the recap episode, I tried to make sure this was correct and I wanted to publish it! And by the way, Jennifer...those Lost recaps you send me on Facebook RULE! Thanks! Here's last weeks if anyone is interested.

My first pattern all (kinda) written out. I'm so proud of myself, but, I'm still a little nervous about publishing it. So, if you decide to make the mittens and you find a mistake (I'm sure there are some). Please let me know!

I'm very excited for the next stage of life and sharing it with him. Although pretty nervous too. But I think that's normal, it just means something important is happening.

Patterns, Patterns!

I tell you what, sometimes this pattern writing stuff just doesn't work for me. I have a tendency to make things up as I go, which makes it really hard to get a pattern down on paper...or to just make a matching glove!

So far I have the cuff done and the beginning o the 'body' of the glove.

And I'm watching Mannequin and kind of enjoying it, I think that means it's time to get some sleep.
